Closer look: Rottler S8A Resurfacer
October 30, 2017
Earlier this month, we wrote about one of our in-house CNC machines, the Rottler F10A. Having this kind of equipment in our facility saves customers both time and money — whereas other shops are sometimes forced to ship their engines/components elsewhere. Today, we’re going to look at another one of our state-of-the-art machines, the Rottler S8A Resurfacer.
Designed to surface anything from small to large, heavy-duty diesel heads and blocks (perfect for shops like nFLOW, which service a variety of engines), the S8A uses a revolutionary electronic controlling system called ClearPath® Integrated Servo Technology, which allows unprecedented accuracy and precision.
Here are just a few of the Rottler S8A Resurfacer’s awesome features:
- A wide range of cutting inserts, including but not limited to: CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) for cast iron, PCD (Poly-Crystalline Diamond) for aluminum, and Coated Carbide Inserts for various, low-speed projects. The versatility of the S8A will allow you to always use the perfect tooling for each and every job.
- Surface finishes as low as 2Ra to 6Ra, thanks to the S8A’s Direct Drive precision ball screws and infinitely variable speeds/feeds.
- The machine’s workhead is mounted on a linear roller bearing slideways (pictured on the right) and has extended travel 483mm (19”), which means we can surface a verity of jobs — from small to large, heavy-duty diesel heads and blocks.
